ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Fritz Reuter, Jr., was born October 29th, 1931, in the Hague, Holland, son of B. Fritz Reuter, a noted master violin maker from Saxony. In 1948 Fritz Reuter, Jr., together with his brother Gunther Reuter, began the study of violin making at the world famous "Geigenbauschule" in Mittenwald, Germany. During the 3-1/2 years of apprenticeship at the school, Fritz Reuter, Jr., studied under the following masters: Johann Karner, Leo Aschauer, Matthias Klotz and Andreas Furst. Additional theoretical and practical knowledge was separately gained privately from Masters Michael Reindl, Paul Seckendoff and Hans Rodig. After being awarded a bachelor's degree in violin making, additional years were spent in Mittenwald working and studying in the shops of Master Franz Reindl, Anton Dietl and Benedikt Lang.

In 1955 Fritz Reuter, Jr., was engaged by Mr. H. A. Olson, president of William Lewis & Son of Chicago, Ill., to work for his firm as restorer and reparateur of fine stringed instruments.

In 1964 Fritz Reuter, Jr., reestablished the firm founded in 1922 at the Hague by his father, which had been dormant since the death in 1944 of B. Fritz Reuter.

With the assistance of his brother Gunther Reuter, a master violin maker in his own right, FRITZ REUTER & SONS has become since 1964 the oldest, wholly owned and operated establishment of professional violin makers and dealers in violins in the Chicago area.

FRITZ REUTER & SONS is a class "AAA" establishment. Members of the "Verband deutscher Geigenbauer, Stuttgart e.V."
